FTJ Demands Ancol to Abolish Entry Levy

Dozens of taxi drivers incorporated in Jakarta Front Transportation (FTJ) hold demonstration in front of City Hall, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (4/30). They are demanding Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (TIJA) management to abolish entry levy of Rp 20 thousand for every taxi comes into that tourism area.

We just want to pick up passengers in Ancol, why should we pay Rp 20 thousand? We are strongly objected to TIJA entry levy

β€œWe just want to pick up passengers in Ancol, why should we pay Rp 20 thousand? We are strongly objected to TIJA entry levy,” stated the demonstration coordinator, Feri Abah.

According to Abah, the entry levy enforcement has been started since last Monday (4/28). However, discrimination is allegedly done by TIJA management since Blue Bird and Ekspress taxis are not subjected the levy.

β€œAll taxis except Blue Bird and Ekspress must pay Rp 20 thousand even though only for picking up passengers. We suspect of discrimination, this new policy is intentionally created so big taxi enterprises could monopolize,” he uttered.

This demonstration involved around 70 taxi armadas, such as Gamya, Kosti Jaya, Taxiku, and others. Because the drivers parked their taxis on roadside in front of City Hall, traffic flow on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan had congested for a moment.
